MEDFORD — Drivers traveling to the Medford Outlet Center and businesses on the west side of Interstate 35 north of Owatonna are now able to use Exit 48 again after it re-opened Tuesday, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The exit had been closed for about six weeks as part of an $833,000 project that replaced two roundabouts and made improvements to the traffic ramps.
However, motorists traveling to the city of Medford on the east side of I-35 will still need to detour at exit 45 at Clinton Falls.
To reach the city of Medford and its businesses, motorists should take Steele County Road 9 east to Steele County Road 45 north. Steele County has closed the west access to Medford from exit 48 as the county replaces a bridge over the Straight River on Steele County Road 12.
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
