After just a week and a half, the first prize for the Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown dining challenge has been claimed.
Mary Mcniff submitted 30 different receipts from dining locations throughout Austin to win the prize and she even decided to put her own twist on the challenge. Mcniff chose to walk to all the food establishments. She said she was able to get some good exercise and meet some wonderful, friendly people on her journey.
“It’s fun to see the community get involved in the dining challenge,” said Nancy Schnable, Executive Director of the Austin Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. “We are looking forward to hearing people’s dining experiences through the end of the year.”
The Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown challenge is designed for Austin residents to visit 30 different dining facilities between July 1 and Dec. 31, gather the receipts, and submit them to the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau. There are still two $100 Chamber Bucks prizes left, which will be randomly drawn for on Jan. 19. For a list of dining options go to www.AustinCVB.com or stop by the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau office.
