H. Jane Gibson, 90

H. Jane Gibson, 90, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Presbyterian Homes of Johanna Shores in Arden Hills, Minnesota.

Jane was born April 2, 1924, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, to Frank and Helen (Dahlquist) Williams. She graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1942, and attended the University of Illinois in Champaign Urbana where she graduated in 1948, majoring in business and psychology. She worked for the George A. Hormel Co. and she worked on Hormel’s “Squeal” Magazine. While working at Hormel, Jane met Robert “Hoot” Gibson to whom she married on March 16, 1952, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Jane and Hoot moved five times during Hoot’s career with Hormel.

Jane loved her family, music and a good glass of Chardonnay. She was the church organist in Mitchell, South Dakota, for 22 years and enjoyed teaching young piano students the joy of music and piano. In 1979, Hoot and Jane returned to Austin where they lived into their retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband Robert “Hoot” Gibson.

Jane is survived by her children, Barbara Gibson, Shoreview, Minnesota, Dr. Sam (Jamie) Gibson, Boise, Idaho, and Dr. Robb Gibson, Boise, Idaho; and eight special grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Michael Olmsted officiating. Inurnment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church for one hour before the service on Tuesday. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
