Ryan Timm has been hired as the new Austin boys track and field coach.
Timm graduated from Minnesota Valley Lutheran, where he had a successful high school sprinting career. He went on to become a decathlete at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee, Wis.
Timm, who graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran in 2010, set the school record in the 100-meter dash.
“Ryan has great experience as a track athlete and training athletes,” AHS Activities Director Lisa Quednow said. “His experience in the decathlon allowed him to learn many of the important fundamentals of many of the events, and I feel that will be a great benefit to our student athletes.”
Timm worked in the Watauga County School District in Boone, NC for two years and he coached middle school track and worked summers with the Tailwinds Track Club.
Timm moved to Austin in 2013 and he now teaches fourth grade at Southgate Elementary.
Former Austin head track and field coach Tony Einertson resigned after last season.
