Learning about dining etiquette
Published 5:42 pm Saturday, August 30, 2014
At noon on Friday we are hosting a formal dinner.
This is your chance to dig out your dress clothes and wear them to the party. We have a special guest speaker that will be going over formal etiquette. Some of the things she will be talking about are:
1.The wink: When someone winks at you across the room, learn the silent and exciting meaning of the wink.
2.The napkin: Learn the silent conversation between a lady and gentlemen by the way they hold their napkin.
3.The silverware: Learn the hidden meaning across the table to a person, by the placement of the silverware.
4.The fan: Learn the hidden meaning of the fan. Guests will learn how to convey unspoken gestures with fans that they make themselves.
5. Courtship: Learn the different rules that a lady and gentlemen had to follow in society.
6.The history of high tea: Learn the differences of afternoon, low and high tea and how they got started.
7.The language of the flowers: Learn the lost art of the meaning of the flowers.
8.The parasol: Learn the silent meaning of the parasol. A story will be told about a lady using her parasol as a conversation piece when she meets a young gentlemen.
9.The handkerchief: Learn how a lady uses her hankie to convey unspoken gestures. The three course meal consists of salad: roasted pears with blue cheese. Entrees: Roast beef with béarnaise or champagne chicken. Dessert: Strawberry trifles. The Roast beef dinner is $9.50 or the Chicken dinner is $8.50. Bring a friend, see you there.
