AL hotel robbed at gunpoint

ALBERT LEA — Albert Lea police are looking for two men who robbed the Holiday Inn Express with a handgun Monday night.
The robbery was reported at 11:06 p.m. Monday at the hotel, 77820 E. Main St. The initial report was that two men entered the business, displayed a handgun to two employees and left the business with an undisclosed amount of money.
No one was injured.
The suspects were described as wearing dark clothing with their faces mostly covered. Police have not released any other identifying information such as race or height.
A news release stated Albert Lea officers, with the assistance of the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol, set up a perimeter around the hotel, and the Austin Police Department’s canine unit assisted with a search of the immediate area.
After a thorough search, no suspects were found.
J.D. Carlson, deputy director of police, said it appeared the suspects left in a vehicle. The robbery remains under investigation.
