Rumpza throws milestone TD as Blossoms beat NRHEG

Blooming Prairie senior quarterback John Rumpza made history as the Awesome Blossoms held off New Richland-HEG (3-5 overall) 35-20 in New Richland Wednesday night.

Rumpza tossed a game-clinching 36-yard TD pass to Tristen Haberman with 11 seconds left in the game on fourth down. That pass was Rumpza’s 102nd career TD pass and that ties him with former BP quarterback Luc Zellmer for Minnesota’s 11-man football record.

The Awesome Blossoms (8-0 overall) finished the game with 448 yards of offense as Rumpza threw for 343 yards and four TDs in the win.

Haberman had 205 yards receiving yards and three TDs.

As far as getting the overall Minnesota career TD pass record, Rumpza is currently trailing Nicollet senior Dalton Elliot, who now has 104 career TD passes. Nicollet is a nine-man football team.
