It was a sad thing when I heard of the loss of Dr. Richard Schindler. I expressed my sympathy to his brother-in-law, Marv Repinski, and asked to pass it onto his wife, Becky, Dick Schindler’s sister.

After hanging up the phone, I felt a bit of emptiness; Dick Schindler had been more than just my doctor. He was also a friend, as I’m sure all his patients thought.

He was a modern doctor with old fashioned ideas. His phone was available 24 hours to patients in need.

I remember his offering to stop at my house on the way home from his Adams clinic if I or my family needed his services (he biked to and from Adams to work).

I remember him stopping in my book store to check up on my health — a weekend follow up to my Adams visit. I remember most his positive attitude toward everything.

He will be greatly missed by his family and those of us fortunate to have known him. The fitting phrase “Gone but not forgotten” applies to Dr. Schindler.

We will miss you, Dick.
