LAKE MILLS — A 36-year-old man died Saturday night after his car went off the road and struck a tree south of Lake Mills.

Thomas Lamarr Preyer IV of Lake Mills was reportedly driving a 1988 Oldsmobile Regency south on County Road R74 near 420th Street at 11:39 p.m. when the crash occurred, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

The report states Preyer was wearing his seat belt.

It is unclear why he left the roadway.

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Mills Fire and Ambulance and Forest City paramedics assisted at the scene.
