Beverly June (Bennett) Orshek, 87, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Nov. 4, 2014, due to complications from a stroke.
She graduated from Clearwater High School and attended Midland College, after which she taught school.
Beverly’s greatest joys were her husband, children, grandchildren, family, friends, and her volunteer activities. She was a past deacon and elder in the Westminster Presbyterian Church, a Girl Scout leader, a member of PEO and the Austin Floral Club, and a volunteer at the Austin Hospital.
She was voted world’s best grandma by her five grandchildren, who visited Austin often, including every Thanksgiving and Christmas. Her passions included cooking, bridge, tennis, and going out with friends on Friday nights.
Beverly is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Richard; her two daughters: Kathy Zils (Jim) of Libertyville, Illinois, and Lynne Crist (Jim) of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; five grandchildren: Jon Zils, Sarah O’Connell (John), Kate Shannon (Chris), Amy Crist, and Jeff Crist (Ashley); and two great grandchildren: Addy O’Connell and Madeline Shannon.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Katherine and Raymond Bennett of Clearwater, Nebraska; two brothers and one sister.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin with services at 11 a.m. on Nov. 7 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be preferred and appreciated, sent to Lambs Farm, 14245 W Rockland Road, Libertyville, IL 60048.
