A 10-year-old boy didn’t take one thing into account before he reportedly pulled a fire alarm at Riverside Arena Wednesday night: He was being filmed by security cameras.
The boy was cited for falsely activating a fire alarm, which led the Austin Fire Department and Austin Police to respond to Riverside Arena around 7 p.m. Wednesday, only to find there was never a threat.
According to Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers responded to the alarm, and after several people were interviewed, the 10-year old boy was cited.
The alarm was reportedly pulled during a Youth Activity Center program. The boy allegedly told another child, “I’m going to pull it,” before he pulled the alarm.
Austin Park and Recreation advised police about video of the incident, which law enforcement will receive later today.
