Dinorah J. “Nora” Bartell, 95, of Austin, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Blooming Prairie.

Nora was born Sept. 18, 1919, in Costa Rica, Central America, one of 16 children to Bernabe and Amelia Jimenez. Nora was a physical education teacher and opera singer and had her own radio show in Costa Rica.

Nora came to this country to be with her youngest and closest sister, Evy Pedersen. She married Donald N. Bartell of Austin. Nora enjoyed her life in the U.S. with her husband, sister and her family.

Loving survivors include her niece, Lorelei (Rick) Bliss; a great niece, Lyndsey Waletzke (Jeff Grothe); a great-great nephew, Dominic Gartner; and two great-great nieces, Star and Daisy Grothe; all of Austin.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; 15 siblings; and several members of her large family.

Private services were held on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at Mayer Funeral Home. Interment was in Grandview Cemetery. Condolences may be left online at www.mayerfh.com.
