Paula Ann (Cummings) Stier, 84, of Grand Meadow, passed Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, peacefully at home.

Paula was married to Alvin Russell Stier Sept. 9, 1950. They had nine children living on their farm in rural Grand Meadow. She was widowed in 1971 and raised the remaining children on her own (well done). She worked many small jobs and continued her education. She earned a Masters Degree and became an ordained minister.

Paula enjoyed everything in life but there were a few specific things that she especially loved. Growing up Paula had a passion for horses, and that passion followed her all of her life. She was a choir director at St. Finbarr’s and St. Edwards and in her spare time she loved to write poetry, bake, and get Chinese food any chance she could. But the one thing Paula couldn’t get enough of was when her boys would come get her on a beautiful sunny day and take her for a motorcycle ride; she said there was no better feeling than having the wind blowing through her hair. Paula’s unconditional love and understanding was known by everyone she met; she welcomed everyone with open arms without a doubt. She was always there for everyone to lift their spirits, lighten their hearts and make their days a little brighter.

She will continue to fill everyone’s hearts as we all know she is the whisper in the wind, the warmth in the sun and the joy in our hearts.

Paula is survived by seven children: Pat (Judy) Stier of Racine, Minnesota, Joe (Becky Sanford) Stier of Grand Meadow, Minnesota, Mary (Bill Berg) Leuning of Austin, Minnesota, Teresa (Ron) Davis of Farmington, Minnesota, Donnie (Edie) Stier of Racine, Minnesota, Barb Nelson of Eyota, Minnesota, Kathleen (Darin) Faber of Racine, Minnesota; and a daughter-in-law Cindy (Bruce) Peterson of Grand Meadow, Minnesota; 25 grand-children, 35 great-grandchildren; and a sister Peggy Stier of Spring Valley, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Russell in Sept. of 1971; two sons: Rusty and Paul; a grandson Adam; and a daughter-in-law Jean Stier.

Funeral services for Paula A. Stier will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Finbarr Catholic Church in Grand Meadow, Minnesota. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the Church.
