Anita was born July 24, 1931, in Ishpeming, Michigan, to Carl and Florence (Halgren) Swanson. She grew up in Ishpeming, where she graduated from high school.

On Dec. 17, 1949, Anita married Eiler Henrickson of Deerwood. They moved to Northfield and together they had four children: Eiler “Ike,” Kristin, Kurt and Ann.

In 1972, she graduated from Rochester School of Nursing and began a long career as a psychiatric nurse. In 1994, after retirement from Marquette General Hospital, she moved to Austin.

Anita was involved in theater and was a wonderful vocalist. She was a staunch advocate of women’s rights and an avid walker. In 2002, Anita suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and spent the remainder of her life surrounded by the wonderful care and friendship of the staff at Comforcare Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Austin.

Survivors include her son, Ike of Austin; daughter Kris (Jon) Graff of Austin; son Kurt (special friend Kathy VanSon) of Northfield; daughter, Ann (Lon) Rossow of Northfield; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Hartley (Joyce) Swanson of Kentwood, Michigan; sister, Harried (Robert) Maki of Northern Michigan; two sisters-in-law: Judy (Ed), and Nancy (Bob) Swanson of Ishpeming; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Jack, Bob, Warren and Ed; sister, Florence (Walter) Bietila; and a sister-in-law Delores( Jack) Swanson.
