The Southland girls basketball team opened strong as it beat Wabasha-Kellogg (0-1 overall, 0-1 Three Rivers) 67-38 in its season opener on the road Tuesday.
The Rebels (1-0 overall, 1-0 Three Rivers) led by 30 points at the break and their starters played just a minute of the second half. McKenzie Kirtz and Sydney Bendtsen each had 16 points for the Rebels.
“I thought we played really well for the first game,” Southland head coach Russ Foster said. “Our press got going and we took care of the basketball. I thought Corbyn Bendtsen played a really solid game and she passed the ball really well.”
