Janet M. Jensen, 75, died peacefully at her home on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014.
Janet Mae Koontz was born Oct. 18, 1939, to Roy E. and Marie (Stangl) Koontz in Bird Island, Minnesota. Her family moved to Northfield, Minnesota, where she attended grade school and later moved to Austin, Minnesota, where she graduated from high school. Janet worked for IBM as a secretary for three years. She married William L. Jensen on Aug. 20, 1960, in Austin, Minnesota. They moved to Rochester, Minnesota, in 1961 and then to their farm in Kasson, Minnesota, in 1972. Janet enjoyed participating in many activities at church, Homemaker’s Club, Sons of Norway, and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
Janet is survived by her loving husband William L. Jensen; her children: Jill (Dennis) Vogstrom, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Judy (Martin) Cammack, White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and Thomas (JoElle) Jensen, Bettendorf, Iowa; her grandchildren: Denise and Jessica Vogstrom, Benjamin and Curtis Cammack, and Jade and Joshua Jensen; her brothers and sisters: Patricia Waletski, Austin, Minnesota, Ronald Koontz, Brownsdale, Minnesota, James Koontz, Gerald (Pennie) Koontz, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Nancy (Chuck) Kirsch, Austin, Minnesota, and William Koontz, Winona, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother Larry Koontz.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Kasson, Minnesota. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Mantorville, Minnesota. Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Kasson, Minnesota.
