The Austin wrestling team took second place out of eight teams at the Columbia Heights Invitational Saturday.
Austin’s 103-pounder, Chris Romero, 132-pounder Aiden Wilson, 170-pounder Kole Igou and 285-pounder Eli Kaercher all took first place in their weight classes. Igou was voted Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament.
“I was very happy for Kole for taking home this honor. It was well deserving. He wrestled today with aggression and confidence by dictating the match from start to finish,” Austin head coach Jer Osgood said. “Guys were working hard to advance individually within the tournament as well as score bonus points for the team.”
Austin’s Danny Albaran took second at 106, Juan Rodriques took fourth at 120, Forest Lewis took third at 126, Payton Miller took third at 138, Nathan Brinkman took second 145, Jayden Erie took third at 152, Brandon Edgar took second at 160, Alec Estrada took third at 182 and Corey Waller took fourth at 195.
