Quality Pork Processors celebrated giving with giving Thursday.
The company pledged $143,362.25 to the United Way and divvied out prizes to employees who participated in the campaign.
With QPP’s pledge, the United Way has brought in more than $900,000 with this campaign, according to Executive Director Diane Baker. But the work isn’t done, as she’s determined to meet — if not surpass — the $1.1 million goal.
“It’s just exciting,” Baker said. “I really want to hit that goal.”
QPP’s fundraising was down by about $1,000, but controller David Drommerhausen said 89 percent of the workforce gave to the campaign. The average employee gave $131 for the year.
“Be proud of everyone you work with,” Drommerhausen told the workers.
The company gave out two televisions, a bicycle, a week’s paid vacation, the chance to be supervisor for a day and more.
“This is just a little giveback from the union,” Drommerhausen said.
Baker thanked the group of workers for giving.
“You sure are an amazing group,” she said.
She told the few workers in the room that the United Way is more than that one day of giving, it’s mostly about all the events and giving the United Way each year.
“We want to you to know what’s going on,” she said.
