Mabel-Canton used a 51-point first half to get past Lyle-Pacelli Friday night at home 57-18.

The Athletics scored on a Ricky Carroll three-yard run with 20 seconds left in the first half, on a Brady Stier two-yard reception with 1:02 left in the third and on a Michaelo Lonergan 24-yard reception with 11:09 left in the fourth.

“They’re a good team,” Athletics coach Mark Buntje said. “We figured they were going to be one of the top two teams in the conference, and they showed it tonight. We got off to a bad start. They returned the opening kick off, and it just went down hill from there.”
