Floa Inez Boyd Finholdt passed away Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at the New Richland Care Center in New Richland, Minnesota.

The third of nine children, Floa was born March 6, 1917, in Castle Rock, Minnesota, to Oakley W. and Inez L. (Miller) Boyd. She graduated from the Northfield High School in 1934.

Floa and Melburn E. Finholdt were married April 5, 1936, in Castle Rock. They made Austin, Minnesota, their home for many years.

Floa is survived by a son, Kenneth (Lyndel) Finholdt of Owatonna, Minnesota; daughter, Kay (James) Wagner of Owatonna, Minnesota; daughter, Judy (Mike) Ferguson of Austin, Minnesota; son-in-law Jerry Nelson of Columbia, Missouri; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; sister, Iva Nere of Mankato, Minnesota, and brother, Ralph (Carmen) Boyd of Dundas, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Melburn; a daughter Barbara Nelson; her parents; three sisters, three brothers; and a nephew.

A celebration of Floa’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marilee A. Benson officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery at a later date. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
