Get ready to plunge into annual Paint the Town Pink

PTTP stands for Paint the Town Pink, which will celebrate the fifth year of Paint the Rink Pink on Feb. 7.
Be sure to purchase your ticket for this game early as it always sells out. There will be a jersey auction following the game. For details on the events that are taking place and locations visit www.hi.umn.edu and Click for Pink.
You can sign up now for Plunging for Pink, which takes place on Jan. 31 at East Side Lake in Austin by going to www.plungingforpink.com.
This year Hy-Vee will sponsor a tent offering food and beverages, Caribou Coffee will be there too! The tent will be located just north of the plunge area. A new event this year at East Side Lake is the Speed Run sponsored by the Spam Town Snow Drifters. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. and runs will begin at 11 a.m. All proceeds will be donated to the Hormel Institute.
Pubic Skates at Packer Arena are: 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 24 and 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. on Feb. 4. The cost to skate is $4. If you need skates rentals they are $1.
We will continue with adult open hockey, 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. on Feb. 4. Watch Facebook and check the city website at www.ci.austin.mn.us for the calendar.
Warming houses are open. There are two hockey rinks and one land rink located at Kaufman Park, Eighth Street and 11th Avenue Southeast. The hours of this warming house is 6 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Galloway Park located at Eighth Street and Second Avenue Southwest is open from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 1 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Check out the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center on Thursday’s for their free cross country ski and snowshoe rental for adults and children from 3 to 6 p.m. They also offer ski and snowshoe rentals daily; adults ski rental is $6 and snowshoe rental is $5 for three hours. Children 18 and under may rent for $1 for three hours. This is made possible by a generous donation from Dick and Belita Schindler.
The Austin girls hockey team will host Owatonna at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. On Saturday boys team will host Northfield with the JV team starting at 11 a.m. and varsity at 12:30 p.m. at Riverside Arena. The public is welcome and the concession stand is open. Stop in a support your local teams.
The Bruins will be on the ice Wednesday when they host Brookings.
The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. bring the family and friends to Riverside Arena for some great hockey.
