The Austin girls basketball team lost 65-53 to Winona (10-5 overall, 8-3 Big Nine) in Ove Berven Gym Tuesday.
Amber Hansen hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer of the first half to put the Packers (5-9 overall, 4-7 Big Nine) up 30-28 at the break, but the Winhawks pulled away in the second half.
Austin had trailed 20-9 to start the game.
“I was proud of the kids,” Austin head coach Todd Johnson said. “I thought they played super hard to battle back after an early deficit. Winona has a good team and they can shoot well from the outside.”
