Austin junior Craig Heimark had a big day in Bud Higgins Pool Thursday.

Heimark broke a 24-year old Austin High School record and the Packers beat Red Wing 91-87.

Heimark set a new record in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.75 seconds. It was just the second time Heimark had swam in the 50-freestyle this season. Heimark also holds the AHS 100-yard freestyle record.

The old 50-yard freestyle record had been set by Tony Bednar in 1991 and it was a time of 21.82 seconds.

Heimark also took first in the 100-yard freestyle Thursday, Ian Christopherson was first in the 200-yard freestyle, Sawyer Myers took first in the 200-yard individual medley and the 500-yard freestyle, Ben Walker took first in the 100-yard butterfly, Sam Clasen was first in the 100-yard backstroke and Matthew Knoll was first in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The Austin 200-yard medley relay team of Heimark, Knoll, Walker and Clasen took first, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Clasen, Mitch Mayer, Isaac Christopherson and Myers took first and the Austin 400-yard freestyle relay team of Heimark, Christopherson, Walker and Myers took first.
