Senior center to help with tax time

Mower County Senior Advocacy Program is taking appointments to assist with the completion of the MN Property Tax Refunds Return.

You will need to bring proof of income received in 2014 including:

•Social Security Income (SSA 1099 form)

Email newsletter signup

•Interest income

•All 1099’s related to any other income you received

•Pension information

•Human Services benefit information

•Certificate of Rent Paid (CRP) form from your landlord

Homeowners cannot complete returns until April or when your new property tax statements come out.

Out-county visits are scheduled as follows: Adams, 9:30 a.m., Thursday; Brownsdale, 1 p.m., Feb. 11 at Friendship Village and 2:30 p.m. at Mill Street Apartments; LeRoy, at 1 p.m. on Feb. 17; Rose Creek, at 1 p.m. on Feb. 25; Lyle, at 1 p.m. on Feb. 26 and Grand Meadow at 10 a.m. on Feb. 27.

We do not complete income tax returns in the Advocacy Office but AARP volunteers will be available in the lower level of the Accentra Credit Union. They will begin to make appointments late January and will begin assisting with taxes early February. Please call 507-434-3329 to make an appointment with them.

Don’t forget our coffee shop where every day you can have homemade soup for $1 and a sandwich for 50 cents. Tuesday, we are serving scalloped potatoes and ham for only $2. You are always welcome at the center.
