Gach will receive a full athletic scholarship at NDSCS, which made its offer last week.

“I’ve been talking with them for awhile now. They’ve been coming back to visit a lot and that was a big factor,” Gach said.

Gach had other offers from Division I Junior Colleges, including one from Lake Region State College in Devils Lake, N.D. where Austin grad Ajuda Nywesh is playing. But Gach felt it was the right fit for him in NDSCS, which is 15-5 this season and went 29-4 and won Region XIII last season.

“It was really tempting [to play with Nywesh again]. I wanted to go play with him, but I had to make the best decision for me,” Gach said.

Gach will play shooting guard or small forward at the next level. He’s used this year to help him prepare as he has emerged as the Packers top scorer. He has also dealt with a lot more more ball handling duties than he has had in past seasons.

“I like the attention of being the top dog that everybody wants to shut down. It makes it a fun game for me,” Gach said. “It’s helped me work on my weaknesses and that’s something I haven’t really done in past years. I can’t wait to start next year.”
