I.J. Holton Intermediate School will now be known as the Holton Hawks.

Austin High School Principal Katie Baskin reported Monday that I.J. Holton took votes from students, community members and staff to secure a name and a logo for the school’s mascot.

The mascot finalists were: the Holton Bolts, the Holton Engineers, the Holton Hawks, the Holton Hornets, the Holton Sparks and the Holton Steambots.

Students, staff and community members now have the opportunity to submit drawings for what the new mascot and logo will look like, incorporating STEAM and “Igniting the Spark of Innovation.” Anyone can submit drawings, including students, staff and community members, from now until Feb. 17. Submissions can be dropped off in the Holton office or emailed to ashley.mclaren@austin.k12.mn.us.
