The Southland girls basketball team just missed a big upset when they lost 44-43 at Chatfield (22-3 overall, 15-3 Three Rivers) Tuesday.

McKenzie Kirtz, who had 14 points, missed a jump shot from the elbow that would’ve given the Rebels (15-9 overall, 10-7 Three Rivers) the lead late in the game.

“We played a great game. We played great as a team and its certainly promising,” Southland head coach Russ Foster said. “I’m really proud of my kids. We gave them a great game and we had a shot.”
