Blooming Prairie boys basketball team downs Southland

The No. 2 seeded Blooming Prairie boys basketball team had a slow start, but it bounced back to beat No. 7 Southland (8-20 overall) in BP Thursday.
John Rumpza had 30 points, 18 rebounds, six assists and four blocks for the Blossoms (15-10 overall).
Southland jumped out to a 20-5 lead in the first six minutes of the game, but BP used an 18-5 run to close the half.
“It is always nice to win in the playoffs and against a quality team like Southland,” BP head coach John Bruns said. “They are much better then their record shows and gave us all we could handle tonight.”
BP will play No. 3 seeded Lyle-Pacelli in the Section 1A West semifinals in Mayo Civic Auditorium in Rochester 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
