Southland girls basketball team beats Grand Meadow in quarterfinals

The Southland girls basketball team used a strong second half effort to top No. 6 seeded Grand Meadow (18-9 overall) 58-33 in a Section 1A West quarterfinal game in Adams Thursday.
The No. 3 seeded Rebels (18-9 overall) out-scored GM 32-14 in the second half to run away with the game. McKenzie Kirtz had 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists for the Rebels.
Southland will play No. 2 Lyle-Pacelli in a Section 1A West semifinal game in Mayo Civic Auditorium in Rochester 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Southland beat LP 62-52 Jan. 24.
