She was born on May 8, 1918, in Austin, Minnesota. Marie was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. She spent her childhood on the family farm near Waltham, Minnesota. On April 5, 1941, Marie married Donald Heuton. They were blessed with two children. Don joined the Army in 1944 and was killed in action in the Pacific on Sept. 18, 1944. Marie married Marc Jancourt on Aug. 28, 1955, and they were blessed with a son. Marc was killed in a motorcycle accident in Austin, Minnesota, on Aug. 15, 1957. Marie was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran church in Austin. She moved to Apple Valley, Minnesota, in 2007 into the Memory Care Unit of Ecumen’s Centennial House where she lived until she passed away. After Marie’s second husband died, she went to work for Dr. Don Claussen and was trained by Don to be a dental assistant and later a receptionist/ bookkeeper. She worked there until she retired. Marie had many hobbies and was very active in her church. She particularly loved to sing in the choir and supported the Austin artistic community. Marie also loved to travel, play bridge and get together with family and friends.

She is survived by her children: Marianne (Gerald) Studer, Donald (Carol) Heuton, and Jan (Melissa) Jancourt; and by her grandchildren: Kevin (Karen) Studer, David (Amy) Studer, Corey (Maura) Studer, Laura Heuton, Joel (Elaine) Heuton, Kelly (Andrew) Halgerson, and Cecilia Jancourt. Marie is also survived by her great grandchildren: Lauren, Grant, Kyle, Amanda, Ruby, Rose, Lois, Marie, Nina and Esther. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews including her special niece and friend, Valerie Burns.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, August and Anna (Reinke) Wollenburg; sisters: Lorene (Leslie) Hinks, Esther (Eugene) Schramm, Erma (Ed) Ohm and brothers, Harold (Hazel) and Elwin (Evelyn).

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 13, at the White Funeral Home in Apple Valley, Minnesota. The funeral will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin, Minnesota, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Christ Lutheran Church in Eagan, Minnesota, Ecumen’s Centennial House in Apple Valley, Minnesota, and St. Croix Hospice.
