The Packer boys soccer team had a strong second half in a 3-0 win at Pine Island (1-10 overall) Monday.
Austin scored just once in the first half on a goal by Alex Klock that was assisted by Niclas Ryberg. Drew Halvin put the Packers up 2-0 in the second half when he rebounded a missed shot by Peter Lindahl, who got an assist on the play, and knocked it in. Klock added a second goal on a crossing pass from Halvin later in the second half.
“We’ve got a lot of guys with two or three goals on the season and that’ s great,” Austin head coach Jens Levisen said. “There’s no selfish play and there’s not just one go to guy. Anybody can make something happen.”
It was the second time this season that Klock has scored two goals in a match for Austin (7-3-2 overall). He is just one of many scorers for the Packers.
The Packers had just five shots in the first half, but the offense improved in the second half.
The Packers will host John Marshall Tuesday on youth soccer appreciation night at 7 p.m. Participants of Park and Recreation youth soccer and Austin Youth soccer will get free admission.
