Public skate continues this month in Riverside Arena. You can skate from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. today; 6:45 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 14.
The cost to skate is $4. If you need skates, we have rentals for $1. We will continue to hold skates from 6:45 to 8 p.m. on April 14 and 12:30 to 2 p.m. April 18.
Check your child’s book bag as our summer brochure was delivered to schools this week to come home with them.
We have lots of opportunities for available for all ages. You will also find information on the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center classes as well as area sports or non-sports camps. If you do not have a child in school the information is available at www.ci.austin.mn.us.
Do you like rabbits? Stop in to Packer Arena on Saturday, April 18, to check out the rabbit show with participants from five states. Doors will open to the public at 7 a.m. and go until the judging is done. This is a free event for spectators, sponsored by the Cedar River Rabbit Club. Austin Youth Hockey will also have concessions available to purchase.
Mark your calendar to volunteer during the ninth annual Community Pride Clean Up day on April 25. The event will start at 9 a.m. in the Municipal Pool concession area and parking lot. Participants can pick up bags and gloves and head out to a green space of their choice or one will be assigned to them. This is a great community effort to pick up the trash in public parks and green spaces that is left behind by the winter winds. We wrap up by noon or sooner. Full garbage bags and white recycle bags can be left by park cans or at the end of trials for pick up.
You still have time to register for Austin Youth Baseball in our office or at South Central Athlete.Registration deadline is April 15.
