Hayfield sophomore Adam Fjerstad made his first mound start as he pitched the Vikings to a 6-4 win over Stewartville (1-1 overall) on the road Monday.
Fjerstad struck out six and allowed just two earned runs in four and two-thirds of an inning and Hayfield senior Cam Rutledge held the Tigers to just one run to finish the game off and get the save.
“It was a very good start for the sophomore,” Hayfield head coach Kasey Krekling said. “[Adam] mixed speeds very well and getting a win in his first varsity start against a very good Stewartville team is a good thing to see.”
Blake Risius went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Vikings (2-1 overall, 2-1 HVL).
