Watch out, cancer.

The Lyle Area Cancer Auction will continue investing in a cure Saturday when it hosts the Halfway to January Cancer Bash at the Lyle American Legion.

Tracy Schilling started the bash after she was cleared of breast cancer seven years ago.

“It means so much to me,” Schilling said. “The community is so giving and I just want to give what they gave to me when I had my breast cancer.”

The sixth annual event will start with a 106-mile car and motorcycle cruise, which will make five stops in both Minnesota and Iowa. Registration for the cruise begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at the legion.

A bake sale is scheduled for 2 p.m., and a taco and nacho bar will open at the same time. The bake sale will include a variety of items like home-made Amish bread, pineapple cake, pecan pie, Special K bars and more. A silent auction will be held at 4 p.m. and a live auction will held later in the evening. At 7 p.m., there will be karaoke by Smitty.

Last year the bash raised about $4,500.

“I want to invest in a cure,” Schilling said. “Every dollar helps.”
