Riverland Community College sophomore Samantha LeMay made it official when she signed her national-letter-of-intent to play college softball at the University of Minnesota-Crookston under a partial athletic scholarship in RCC Wednesday.
LeMay is leading the Blue Devils (5-32 overall) on offense by hitting .352 with a on base percentage of .447 to go with four homers, five doubles, and 15 RBIs. LeMay was hoping for a better season this year after RCC had a strong run last season, but the Blue Devils’ young roster has struggled to win games.
“It wasn’t as good as I hoped, but it’s still been a fun season playing my last year here. I’ve taken more of a leadership role this year,” LeMay said.
LeMay, who is a Bell Plaine grad, will likely play first base at Crookston, where the team is rebuilding after going 4-44 overall this season.
“It’s kind of like our program and they’re rebuilding. I’m excited to be part of their team,” LeMay said.
