A 17-year-old boy was shot in the head with a BB-gun Monday.
According to Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers responded to a report at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Austin of a minor struck/shot in the head by a BB-gun with non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim reported he and a few others were sitting on a bench near Sumner Elementary School when a vehicle described as a tan Buick drove past slowly and then came back. An unknown male suspect got out of the car, walking toward them saying, “Who’s going to run first, I’ll give you five seconds.” After he counted down from five, he started shooting at the victims with a BB-gun.
Officers tried to locate and identify the suspect, who was described as a black male, a minor, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and thin. Officers were able to locate another witness who was in the area, and gave a similar account as the victim.
The case was turned over to detective investigators for follow-up.
