James Elroy Morgan, 60, of Austin, Minnesota, died on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at his home.
James was born in Austin on Dec. 11, 1954, to Elroy and Margaret (Gainey) Morgan.
Jim worked in Minneapolis, Duluth and Santa Barbara, California. His favorite job was as a purchasing agent for an air filter company in southern California, which he enjoyed because the job required constant use of his extensive math skills.
In his spare time, Jim enjoyed reading, movies, playing cribbage and was a master at trivia and sports knowledge. He was also a jazz aficionado and a collector of art and design books.
He was an artful conversationalist and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his sisters and brother-in-law: Jean and Wayne Learn of Red Wing, Minnesota; Judy Morgan of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Joan Morgan of Austin, Minnesota; nieces and nephew: Carrie Learn of St. Paul, Minnesota; Jon and Kim Learn of Prior Lake, Minnesota; Liz and Josh Roper of Red Wing, Minnesota; great nieces and great nephews: Aiden, Aeson, Kaylee and Samantha.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Elroy and Margaret Morgan, and by aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will gather from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at the Pickett Place Community Room 808 1st Drive NW in Austin to celebrate Jim’s life.
