HUDSON, Wis. — Authorities say four men, including three family members, were on their way to a golf resort when their small plane crashed in western Wisconsin.
Polk County officials say 44-year-old Daniel Ortner, of North Hudson, was piloting the Beechcraft Bonanza. Passengers on board were 47-year-old Eric Larson, his 20-year-old son, Michael Larson and his 18-year-old son, Matthew Larson, all of Hudson.
The four were headed for Voyager Village in Danbury, but crashed Monday evening in a field near Amery about 10 minutes after taking off from the airport in New Richmond.
Hudson Mayor Alan Burchill tells the St. Paul Pioneer Press that it’s a sad day for the community. Burchill knew all four men and said they were “good folks.”
Officials say the Larsons knew Ortner through their employer, Xcel Energy.
