There was just one area golfer who qualified for state at the Section 1A boys and girls golf meet in Lake City Tuesday.

Southland senior Matt Breitbarth qualified for the Class ‘A’ state boys golf meet as he tied for fourth with a score of 85.

“The wind was a major factor and Matt played a pretty good round,” Southland head coach Tim Brennan said. “He had two birdies on the day, one a result of his driving a 296 yard hole. Matt’s put in a lot of hours on the course in his five years of varsity play and he deserved to go. I’m happy for him.”
