Area residents, including local Sudanese, will have the chance to discuss the effects of the 2015 Minnesota Legislature at the Austin Public Library at noon Tuesday.

The legislative update, sponsored by the Council on Black Minnesotans, will include information on education, the Department of Human Rights, and more.

Sudanese activists have already said they will attend and hope for many residents to also join in the discussion.

“It is really exciting to me because there is a lot of information needed to be discussed,” John Brown Bol said.

Bol and other activists are seeking local and state support for refugee programs in Austin. Various groups have sought out a refugee community center in Austin since last fall.

The discussion will run until 1:30 p.m.
