Austin Stars U12AAA team wins Real Winning Team Award

The Austin Stars U12AAA baseball team recently won the Real Winning Team Award. The Minnesota Sports Federation (MSF), in partnership with Youth 1st, The Walser Foundation and the Minnesota Twins Community Fund have selected the CMG Austin Stars U12AAA Baseball Team as a Real Winning Team Award winner for their outstanding sportsmanship during the 2015 MSF State Baseball Tournament.
“The Real Winning Team Award recognizes positive behavior from players, coaches and everyone associated with the team. Parents, fans and spectators,” said Mark Arjes of Youth 1st. “It places the emphasis on how you play the game, which is ultimately more important than if you win or lose.”
The Real Winning Team Award was created by working with MSF, MSF State Tournament Directors and Umpires In Charge. The umpires provided a team selection vote after each game during the tournament based on the conduct and sportsmanship exhibited by coaches, players and fans. The teams with the most selections are being recognized as Real Winning Teams. Each team selected is presented with a Real Winning plaque, personalized certificates, PLUS tickets for the players and coaches to attend a Minnesota Twins game at Target Field. That presentation took place at the team’s end of season party Aug. 23, which included Austin All-Stars board members, team members and coaches.
