ALBERT LEA — People recovering from substance abuse and addiction are about to show their talents to support recovery.

In celebration of September’s Recovery Month, Fountain Centers, a Mayo Clinic Health System program for substance abuse and addiction, has teamed up with Recovery is Happening, a recovery community organization in Rochester, to host the third annual Recovery’s Got Talent.

The event is a showcase of talent from individuals in recovery and those that support recovery. The first event will be this Friday at Crossroads Church, 3402 Hoeger Lane, Albert Lea, followed by a second event on Sept. 4 at Northfield Arts Guild, 304 Division St., Northfield, and a third event on Sept. 10 at C4 Creative Salon, 324 First Ave. SW, Rochester.

Three finalists from each of those locations will move on to the finale on Sept. 11 at C4 Creative Salon in Rochester. Last year’s winner was Jayne Stout who sang a rendition of “Me and Bobby McGee” by Janis Joplin. Stout is celebrating three-and-a-half years of recovery from meth addiction and is willing to share her story to highlight the importance of Recovery Month and the Recovery’s Got Talent events.
