Get ready to see pink this weekend as the annual Pink Out the stadium is back. Support several fundraisers and learn to make your own craft with this quiet, relaxing weekend.
1. Children’s Miracle Network Fundraiser
11 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday-Saturday, Accentra Credit Union, 400 4th Ave. NE
The Children’s Miracle Network Fundraiser will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. A hotdog or a SPAMburger with a beverage will be provided for a $2 donation, and Schwann’s ice cream bars will be available for $1. Supplemental funds will be provided by the Austin Chapter of Thrivent Financial.
2. Austin Packers to ‘Pink Out” stadium again
7 p.m., Friday, Art Hass Stadium
As part of its home opener Friday on new artificial turf, the Austin Packers football team, along with its parents and fans, will “pink out” Art Hass Stadium to raise awareness and support for The Hormel Institute’s breast cancer research.
The Austin Packers’ fourth annual “Pink Out Night” football game will be against the Winona Winhawks and there will be a pre-game tailgate party from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on the stadium’s east side at the Wescott Field Complex. Pulled pork sandwiches, hamburgers and hot dogs, along with chips and beverages, will be available for purchase. “Pink Out” is put on every year by the team’s Austin Packers Football Booster Club. It’s one of the early events for the annual “Paint the Town Pink” initiative. As part of Friday’s “pink” festivities, the booster club will offer face painting to kids for a freewill donation; a pink tractor for photo opportunities; a raffle for numerous items; and an auction for two autographed pictures donated by Minnesota Vikings’ players. A limited number of “Pink Out” shirts also will be available for $10 at the game. Everyone attending Friday’s game is encouraged to wear pink to honor those who are battling breast cancer and those who lost their life to the devastating disease.
3. Pinterest Craft Club
6-7 p.m., Monday, Austin Public Library
