Mower County law enforcement took part in a federal drug bust Thursday that netted at least seven arrests, more than 10 pounds of methamphetamine and more than $30,000 from suspected cartel members working in Sargeant and Mantorville.

Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said the drug sting was supervised by the Drug Enforcement Administration and included the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the Minnesota State Patrol and several southern Minnesota law enforcement departments.

Officers stopped three vehicles going northbound on County Road 16 near Highway 63 and also raided a rural Sargeant home during the bust. Four males and one female were arrested during the traffic stops, where police found 10 pounds of meth. About $26,000 and 3 pounds of meth were found at the Sargeant home, along with a handgun.

Another 6 pounds of meth and $8,000 was found at a home at the 25000 block of 565th Street in Mantorville.

The suspects were taken to Olmsted County jail and will face federal charges, according to Amazi.
