Program gives insight on body donation

Published 7:01 am Sunday, September 20, 2015

Our Family Matters presents the fifth in our six month series, co-sponsored by Mower County Senior Center and Mayer Funeral Home.

This program is designed to give excellent answers to a frequently asked question: “What’s involved with donating my body to science?”

Shaun Heath from Mayo Clinic’s Anatomy Department will give a presentation about what is involved with body donation to Mayo.

Eric Weerts and Scott Borchers will lead a discussion about the various ways of organizing funeral plans when body donation is involved. There will be plenty of time for question and answer to conclude the program. This installment of Our Family Matters is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21.

Our root beer floats and cookies were very well received last month, so we are doing an encore.

Plan to arrive at 3:15 p.m. and we’ll be ready to scoop ice cream and pour root beer. As always, advance registration is needed for organizing written materials and refreshments. We will also have our traditional door prize drawing: Lunch for two at The Old Mill.

Please stop by or call to register for this very informative session. Call the senior center at 507-433-2370 or Mayer Funeral Home: 433-1817. Stop by or call today.

Don’t forget our coffee shop where every day you can have homemade soup for $1 and a sandwich for 50 cents. Tuesday we are having tuna noodle hotdish for only $2. You are always welcome at the center. See you here.
