Three more juveniles were arrested Thursday in connection to Monday’s fight at Austin High School, bringing the total to 10 arrests.
Police Chief Brian Krueger said two 16-year-old females and a 17-year-old male were taken into custody in relation to the fight. The females were taken to a juvenile detention center in Rochester and the male was taken to a juvenile detention center in Red Wing.
Austin police and Mower County deputies responded to AHS around 3:15 p.m. Monday after reports of a fights and a report of a suspect with a gun near the school’s west entrance.
The school went into lockdown from 3:23 to 4:02 p.m., and Pacelli Catholic School and Mayo Clinic Health System were also briefly locked down. Though witnesses reported one person had a gun, no gun was ever found. Police searched the area and found black, shiny nun-chucks on the roof of the high school annex, which officers believe a suspect threw there when being chased.
The juveniles were identified through video surveillance.
Seven of the 10 people arrested for the incident are minors, and Krueger said additional charges or arrests are likely.
