The Austin girls tennis team (7-1 overall, 3-0 Big Nine) cruised past Faribault 7-0 Wednesday on the road.
No. 3 singles player Catherine Wagner and No. 4 singles player Nina Carney did not allow a point in their matches for Austin.
“Nina played some consistent tennis,” Austin head coach Thomas Tauchnitz said. “She is one of our top young singles players and we are excited to see her flourish in that role. With every match she is gaining great experience.”
The top doubles team of Laura Astrup and Sophie Hebrink overwhelmed their opponents with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
“They really played aggressive and pounced on their opponents and never released the pressure by crashing the net and hitting great first volleys to put their opponents on there heels,” Tauchnitz said.
Austin hosts Albert Lea Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
