Symposium to be held Nov. 7 in A.L.; Hormel Institute doctor presenting

The fourth annual Lloyd and Ardis Peterson Cancer Education Symposium will be held Nov. 7 from 8 a.m. to noon, at Wedgewood Cove Golf Club, 2200 W. 9th St., Albert Lea.
The symposium is free and brunch will be provided.
Participants will learn about the latest in treatment, research and surviving cancer. Presenters include Sergio Gradlione, Ph.D., The Hormel Institute, who will discuss his research on better ways to treat bile duct cancer, which currently has limited treatment options.
He and his team are hopeful their discoveries can be applied to other liver diseases and other forms of cancer, such as breast, kidney, pancreatic and prostate cancers; Doug Smith, an instructor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will speak on how we can transform pain and suffering to make us better, fuller human beings; and Chuck Rudoloph, a native of Fairmont, Minnesota, will share his cancer journey which he details in his book, “A Journey Through Cancer: With Faith and Hope.”
Timothy Kozelsky, M.D., radiation oncologist on the Albert Lea campus of Mayo Clinic Health System – Albert Lea and Austin, will emcee the symposium.
The symposium comes from the The Lloyd and Ardis Peterson Family Foundation who wished to honor their parents in the community where they lived and worked, while simultaneously recognizing the quality care they received from the medical center in Albert Lea.
