The CD Release of Curtis & Loretta’s “When There’s Good to Be Done” will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21 at the Owatonna Arts Center Performance Hall.
Loretta Simonet was awarded an Artist Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board in 2015, and wrote 12 original songs about real-life people who overcome great odds in their lives. The CD is the culmination of the grant.
Harvey Ronglien and Peter Razor, who both grew up at the State School in Owatonna, are two of the people about whom Loretta wrote songs and they both plan to be in attendance at the concert. The OAC Performance Hall where the concert will take place was originally the dining hall for the State School Children.
The Owatonna Arts Center and the Minnesota State Public School Museum Board will host a reception following the performance and Cottage 11 will be open for visitors before and after the program. The cost for the concert is a suggested $5 per person (free to former State Schoolers). Curtis & Loretta plan to donate the money collected to the Owatonna Arts Center and the Orphanage Museum.
Curtis & Loretta’s music comes straight from the heart. The husband and wife duo’s extraordinary harmonies and proficiency on a parade of stringed instruments create an alluring frame for their poignant original songs, and traditional pieces from America and the British Isles.
