Hayfield volleyball team gets past Medford, will play in finals Tuesday

The No. 2 seeded Hayfield volleyball team moved on to the Section 1A west finals when it beat No. 3 Medford (17-11 overall) 25-22, 25-17, 25-20 in the semifinals in Mayo Civic Center Saturday.
Savanna Cordle racked up 10 kills for Hayfield (18-10 overall) and Kate Kruger had nine digs.
Hayfield will now take on top ranked Faribault Bethlehem Academy in the Section 1A West Finals at Mayo Civic Center 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The Cardinals have ended Hayfield’s season in the last three seasons.
“We played well enough to win, but will have to be better in the championship round,” Hayfield head coach Jeremy Struck said. “Our goal is always to play our best all season to get to the finals. An opportunity to face off against the number one team in the state is what we strive for in the post season. It will be a tough match, but we are looking forward to it.”
